Swapping computer cameras

A change in your tech perspective

A desktop screen with OBS running, streaming itself

On Tuesday February 19, 2026, I downloaded a bunch of streaming software onto my computer for better content creation (this article will contain hyperlinks, each one will be marked with an underline).

Another millennial man with a DJI Mic Mini? Before you scroll away, please know that most of its use has been audio notes for myself, as well as recording politics and my dogs. Not one podcast episode, but there are some grief-minded TikToks that are sitting in my drafts.

The software I used (free):

The hardware I used:

  • Windows PC (Windows 10 Pro)
  • Android Phone (Pixel 9 Pro)
  • DJI Mic Mini- 1 receiver (Rx) and 1 transmitter (Tx)
  • Logitech C270 webcam
  • Phone holder with lots of room around the USB-C port for the DJI Mic Mini Receiver

Here are two screenshots from my computer using the Camo Studio software:

  • the first screenshot was taken with my trusty + dusty Logitech C270 720p webcam, and
  • the second one was with my Pixel 9 Pro’s front (8MP? I don’t think I selected 10MP) camera.

Zoom calls improved- sure.

Offices with no webcams, grandparents who don't want to buy another piece of technology- most definitely.

What else is the cell-phone sized computer in your pocket for?

I thank these developers and open-source contributors for creating, testing, troubleshooting and deploying this software. There’s a lot of gratitude to be had for the thousands and millions of people across the world’s history who would all be part of the same skilled labor union, if they lived next to each other and at the same time.

The better world that we create, then creates more opportunities for us in return. There are a lot of efforts locally that are trying to connect that idea to the greater body of people through their service and giving. Through Pocket I.T. and volunteer efforts, I’ve been connecting with Des Moines/Polk County nonprofits, progressive and religious institutions trying to bring in an outside perspective on tech workflow and impact. Part of the reason I created this blog, besides highlighting tech tips, is to increase the range of my voice. Thousands of consulting hours and several more thousands building technology solutions have often scratched my problem-solving itch. I don’t want to run for office, I want to engage the professional community through my LLC and grow alongside my community, giving back and creating jobs here in Iowa.

If there’s something I can help you out with, let’s brainstorm- I’ll empower your voice and ideas as much as I can. For I.T. in the back of your pocket, send me your tech gripes and I’ll be there to help.
